Quite Good vintage & functional condition, 1930s-40s, Some light honest wear, But an overall , very clean bright and attractive Pen :- The Pen has a good inner piston & the piston filler works perfectly – it is obvious thet the piston is used, but it seals well and does not leak, the ink tank is nice & clear, The cap threads on & posts perfectly , The gold tone trim has some patina but is very bright, No brassing that I see , Very sturdy pocket clip, 2 tight cap bands , No Cracks, No warp, Very pretty green pearl, the pen is 4 & 13/16″ capped & a full 6 & 5/16″ posted. The parts of this pen are quite nice – the fluted trim (clip & band) are very nice. The pen cap is marked “GUNTHER WAGNER PELIKAN” with a nice “Pelikan” Bird logo on the top of the cap. Very nice 14K Gold Fine Point nib with excellent iridium tipping, easy flex , Nice profile , Flexing from very fine to 1.5mm possible with out over flexing, moderately easy flex you will still have control for every day writing with a little more expression when desired. BUT – the problem I encountered was… At first it wrote and flexed beautifully, then it would railroad & then it would have to much ink flow & it even dripped ink… All this can be noticed in the 2 writing samples – I cleaned it filled it & tried again… And it did the same thing… But perhaps a different ink would help.. The pen was actually filled with ink to make this writing sample, The Paper is from a Rhodia Dotpad No. 16, the dots are 5mm apart to help you gauge the line variation.
