EXCELLENT FIRST YEAR Burgundy Snorkel Sentinel. Length capped – 5 1/2. This Snorkel Sentinel is is excellent restored condition. The Sentinel model is one of Sheaffer’s White Dot models featuring a 14k Triumph nib with a palladium mask, a 3/8 gold-filled cap trim band and a gold-filled, spring-loaded clip, and a stainless steel cap. Snorkel pens made in the first year of production (1952) were equipped with 14k gold Snorkel tubes. The company didn’t advertise or otherwise publicize the fact, and it wasn’t until sometime in the 1960s that a pair of collectors sent a tube for assay and the first-year Snorkels became collectibles. I will include a photocopy of an original Sheaffer Snorkel paper instructions leaflet. Replacement of all seals and the sac. Smoothing and adjusting the nib. Refinishing the plastic, stainless steel, and gold-filled surfaces. Filling the pen with ink (not just dipping). And producing multiple writing samples over 2 days (like the one in the photo).
