Parker 75 Flighter GT with F Fine Point 14ct Gold Nib (P953b)
Parker 75 – Flighter GT with “F” Fine Point 14ct Gold Nib – (P953b). Flighter = Brushed Stainless Steel. “F” Fine Point 14ct Gold Nib. Cartridge / Converter (Cartridge only supplied). No date stamp = Abt 1970s. The Old Pen Shop Deluxe Box. Very Good Normal use marks only. Designed by Kenneth Parker & Dom Doman in 1963 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Parker Pen Co. This was closely followed by the Insignia Cicele, a gold filled version, not to be confused with the Gold plated Sterling Silver Cicele, called the Vermeil Cicele. The early versions had metal threaded sections, but by 1965 this was dispensed with. The Parker 75 was the new flagship of the Parker range with a large 14k or 18k gold nib, specially designed for easy maintenance and easily removed for cleaning. The Section came in three models. Model 1 – triangular section with finger grips on two of the three facets and with a stainless steel incrementally marked section ring. On the early versions there was a centralising “0” on the section ring. Model 2 – triangular section with finger grips on two of the three facets and very similar but very thin smooth section ring, sometimes gold plated. Model 3 – A round section, with smaller finger grips and a thin lined gold section ring. The nib and built in feed came in two varieties. Mark I fitted Models 1 & 2 Sections and the Mark II fitted the Model 3 Sections. The other major distinguishing factor of the Parker 75 was the finial ends commonly known as “Tassies”. These came in three varieties. The Flat or Smooth Tassy. This is a listing from “The Old Pen Shop”. Some Teeth/Fins on Feed are missing – Does not affect the writing capabilities of the pen. The Parker Duofold Range. The Parker Duofold Range has been Parker’s flagship range for nearly 100 years. First came the Button Fillers of the 1920s and 1930s, mostly built in the USA with a few built in Canada. Then came the Duofold NS (New Style) another Button Filler but this time built in the UK between 1946 and 1948. Then came the last of the Button Fillers with the Duofold AF (Aluminium Filler) also built in the UK (1948-52) as most were after WWII. A sister pen was produced at a similar time using many of the same components, designated as the Victory (Mk IV). The Barrel was the same and the AF Filling button was the same. It however tended to use the standard “N” Newhaven nib as opposed to the Duofold “N” nib. Then came a range of Aerometric Fillers. These started with the deminutive Slimfold with No. 5 nib, with a slightly larger brother in the Junior with No. 10 nib, then the Standard/Demi with No. 10/15/20 or 25 nibs. Followed by the Senior with No. 35 nib and then the Flagship of the range, The Maxima with No. A variant in the range was the Parker 17 and Super 17. These normally used hooded nibs and tubular No. Not very flexible, but made of 14ct gold. However there were a few early models with open nibs (commonly called “Beaky” nibs) and these were called Duofold 17s and Duofold Super 17s. This is a listing from “The Old Pen Shop”.
