Working vintage 1940s Fountain Pen, Made in Canada w/ an Canadian Waterman nib, Very nice nib :- , The cap & Barrel are crack free & sturdy (Very straight) and very functional :- a very sturdy approx 75 year old pen that you can use :- , the cap threads on and posts very well – The pen has very clear factory imprints, the cap trim is excellent with no brassing that I see (Tight Cap Bands) – The Waterman lever is sturdy and works very well as it should. A full 6 & 3/16″ posted and 5 & 1/16″ capped. The feed has been ultrasonically cleaned for good ink flow – the lever works well with a good inner pressure bar & a brand new quality ink sac just installed. IDEAL #2A 14K Gold Nib , The nib is a very nice writer (See writing sample please), Not a super flex, but a very nice Fine Point semi Flex Very controllable nib… (PLEASE SEE THE NIB PHOTOS) the tip is a Fine point, finer with a light hand, with good Iridium tipping, nice line variation, Flexing from fine point to 1.3 mm possible but I would stay at 1.1mm or below for nib longevity, When you want some line variation, it goes from a fine point to a wider line as shown with medium to heavier pressure, it has a nice easy soft feel. It will provide excellent line variation & expression. The writing sample was made by actually filling the pen & writing with it, the writing sample shown will come with the pen. The Paper is from a Rhodia Dotpad No. 16, the dots are 5mm apart to help you gauge the line variation. The inks are Waterman South Sea Blue(inspired), & Diamine Monaco Red. Please enlarge all 12 photos & read all the text for detail. 1940s Waterman Pen, Great Full size pen with larger & Very Flexible Nib, not a mint pen, a little wear and honest use showing, a crack free & very presentable & VERY functional – Great Color, the color is Vivid Black w/ Gold filled Trim, the pen has no warp, no engraving, no cracks, perfect cap lip, the trim rings are tight, Very Sturdy & nicely styled pocket clip – The lever box is excellent & stress free. The filling mechanism works perfectly – the Gold filled is very bright, I see no brassing, The cap is a threaded cap and it fits on well and posts perfectly. Full size Waterman fountain pen, The pen is a full 6 & 1/8″ posted and 5 & 1/16″ capped. Very good size for writing, a beautiful user grade (or better) pen I feel, and with a Very nice nib :- a very good writing tool, the pen has a recently installed a new quality ink sac – Pen is ready to ink up & write :. Very nice “IDEAL” larger nib, 14K , (a #5 nib I think) clean & straight factory nib, (please see the close up photos of the nib) a nice very fine point , Very good iridium tipping, Smooth on Rhodia with a light hand, more feedback with pressure, you may get some tooth with pressure on cheap paper, But the nib has a Very soft easy flex feel, it is capable of a fine line to 1.2mm max with medium to heavier pressure (I would not go further to preserve the nib) NOT a wet noodle at all, more al dente ; or SEMI FLEX PLUS.
