Restored Sheaffer Excellent Black Oversize Balance Premier, Extra Fine Point. Length capped – 5 1/2. Point – Extra Fine. Sheaffer “oversize” Balance pens were made during the 20s, 30s, and into the 40s. The teardrop clip and cap identify this pen as one the last versions of the iconic oversize Premier model, made sometime between 1937 and World War II. The nib is a smooth extra fine with medium ink flow, and I’ve installed a new latex sac. The celluloid is free of visible surface scratches but shows some shrinkage under the clip (cannot be seen in the photos–pen must be held at the right angle to the light). Sheaffer / Bexley Fountain Pen. Please enlarge all 12 photos & read all the text for detail. As far as I know, not many at all of these were made, very few as I understand it Quite over sized’Balance’ like in shape, The cap & barrel were made by Bexley to fit Sheaffer no nonsense / Vintage / Balance 2, fountain pen sections (any of these nib units well thread right in, including gold nib units from the Sheaffer Balance 2), The pen is Mint unused, there are two short hairline cracks at the tail of the pen, that I did not see until inspecting under a bright light, See photo #6 , But other wise very good (mint) condition. The pen is ORANGE (kinda like Parker Big Red orange) with gold filled trim. The nib is in excellent (Mint) condition, it is a fine point gold plated (hallmarked too) Sheaffer nib unit in as far as I can tell, Mint unused condition. The pen will fit a Sheaffer ink converter (not included) or Genuine Sheaffer ink Cartridges (of which one fresh black Sheaffer Skrip ink cartridge will be included) :. Larger pen, Impressive in the pocket , the pen is 6 & 1/42″ posted, 5 & 5/8″ capped. Pen has a very good shine , no other maker marks, very bright & clean. Other pens & parts listed :.
