Overall excellent cosmetic and working condition and fitted with a new ink sac. No plate loss or wear to the gold fill. Restored Sheaffer Excellent Black Oversize Balance Premier, Extra Fine Point. Length capped – 5 1/2. Point – Extra Fine. Sheaffer “oversize” Balance pens were made during the 20s, 30s, and into the 40s. The teardrop clip and cap identify this pen as one the last versions of the iconic oversize Premier model, made sometime between 1937 and World War II. The nib is a smooth extra fine with medium ink flow, and I’ve installed a new latex sac. The celluloid is free of visible surface scratches but shows some shrinkage under the clip (cannot be seen in the photos–pen must be held at the right angle to the light).
